Fairy tales do not give the child his first idea of bogey. What fairy tales give the child is his first clear idea of the possible defeat of bogey. The baby has known the dragon intimately ever since he had an imagination. What the fairy tale provides for him is a St. George to kill the dragon. Exactly what the fairy tale does is this: it accustoms him for a series of clear pictures to the idea that these limitless terrors had a limit, that these shapeless enemies have enemies in the knights of God, that there is something in the universe more mystical than darkness, and stronger than strong fear. (G.K. Chesterton)

The modal, but worse outcome – Google, Facebook, and Amazon become true wards of the state as surveillance machines. – “The dark scenario that I think is actually the most likely is Google just becoming evil… It’s very similar to Game of Thrones where you had the good dragon, and then it gets killed and then its eyes get reanimated bright blue and now it’s the evil dragon. (Technology Founder Balaji Srinavasan)

With the outbreak of open warfare in the information age in early 2020 led by an unholy alliance of BigTech and human rights-abusing regimes in large parts of the currently broken world, suffering through the final stages of the collapse of the contemporary fiat monetary system, the censorship of all kind of activity and information which does not foster the agenda of the regime has become increasingly broad.

The Internet experience, which started out as a decentralized network to share information and connect humanity, has to a large extent been captured by BigTech. The content is diligently pre-screened if it is “suitable” to read/watch without inducing dangerous wrongthink in the subjects.

Free access to information has been deemed dangerous and the powers to be are longing back for a time where tight control over what type of information people had access to would give them vast powers of control purely by the means of effective propaganda.

Google and its subsidiaries like Youtube are at the very forefront of this information warfare unleashed upon the people.

While almost everyone for far too long has been extremely comfortable with the convenience and reach provided by the BigTech platforms; the downsides to building on hostile infrastructure become more clear by the day.

You can not win a war if all of your infrastructure is operated and controlled by your opponent.

We have seen unprecedented and alarmingly accelerating amounts of censorship for the wrong opinions on political and more recently health-related public concerns.

It is pretty clear at this point that a technology as disruptive as Bitcoin to existing power structures won’t be spared in the age of information warfare.

Initially it is to be expected that a fracturing will take place and a retreat to smaller, alternative platforms which promise to be more favourable towards free speech, free sharing of information and open debates and ideas.

Telegram messenger or Odysee fall into this category.

However, those solutions are only a bandaid whose resilience still relies to a large degree on the people behind these services acting in good faith, which – as we have seen time and again – is not a sustainable solution.

Centres of power and attention *will* be invaded and taken over time by psychopaths who are looking to exploit the social capital and trust previously built.

Truly decentralized alternatives are hard however – and there are good reasons why convenience offered by centralized service providers led to a concentration of the attention of the population to a few large websites over the past couple of years.

However, perfect is the enemy of good – and while we are looking into alternative more resilient approaches (e.g. Peertube) as well, increasingly cutting out Google products from our lives and utilized infrastructure is the first order of business.

The world has entered a stage where we can’t remain complacent any longer after years of eroding liberties

We don’t have to win the war in a single day. But we remain resilient in the face of a hostile onslaught of demoralizing propaganda with the aim to capture and exhaust your limited mental energy, give you a feeling of despair and hopelessness and thereby drive you into submission.

Tune it out, take care of yourself, your loved ones and your community – and make the moves which make your life and the lives of those around you better.
